Louis J. Durkin, MD, FACEP, FAAEM
Dr. Durkin is a Board Certified Emergency Physician and EMS Director at Mercy Medical Center in Springfield, MA.  A former firefighter and EMT in college, he then received his MD degree from State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn in Brooklyn, NY.  In addition, Lou is the EMS Director for the Agawam Fire Department, Ludlow Fire Department, AmB Care Ambulance, Alert Ambulance, National Ambulance and RAM Ambulance all within the Western MA area.  Lou is also medical director of the EMS Educational Services program at AmB Care in Springfield, MA.  He is a member of the National Association of EMS Physicians.  Lou is the medical director and treasurer as well as co-founder of 

Michael E. Stevens, PA-C, CRTT
Mr. Stevens is Associate Chief of Emergency medicine Solutions a private ED group staffing Mercy Hospital in Springfield. He received his PA degree from Springfield College in Springfield, MA.  Before becoming a physician assistant, Mike was an EMT in the Boston area for seven years.  In addition to his certification as a physician assistant, Mike holds a current license in respiratory therapy.  He is the president and co-founder of

Michelle E. Duffelmeyer, MD
Dr. Duffelmeyer has been an instructor at Springfield College for both the Emergency Medical Services Management and Physician Assistant programs.  She is a Board Certified with the American Board of Internal Medicine and has previously been affiliated with an internal medicine practice in East Longmeadow, MA.  Michelle received her MD degree from State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn in Brooklyn, NY.  She is a primary developer of educational content for  Michelle is also vice president and a co-founder.

Kelly Hart
Ms. Hart graduated from University of Hartford with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a degree in Marketing.  As a managing partner of, Kelly handles running the day-to-day operations including customer support and interaction with state and national governing bodies.

Stephanie Stevens, OTR/L
Mrs. Stevens is a pediatric occupational therapist.  She has worked in diabetic research and with adults with developmental and physical disabilities.  Stephanie is the secretary and works with our web development team constantly updating and improving our serve.

James Scliopou, MS, PA-C, NREMT-P
A graduate from Springfield College's Masters program in Health Care Management and that, combined with a bachelor of science degree in emergency medical services management, Jim brings with him a wide range of knowledge and experience in EMS, EMS education, business, and healthcare.  Jim is also currently a practicing paramedic in Springfield, MA. Jim contributes as an author on

Richard A. Craven, Jr., NREMT-P, CCEMT-P, I/C
Rich holds a bachelors of science in EMS Education from Springfield College and is certified as a Nationally Registered and Critical Care Paramedic. He is a full-time West Springfield FireFighter and is the Program Coordinator for Rich brings over 12-years experience in EMS and was the recipient of the 2007 EMS Educator of the year in Western Massachusetts. Rich has conducted several EMT, Intermediate and Paramedic initial training programs throughout his career as an EMS Educator.

Christopher Bartone, EMT-P
C.J. holds a bachelors of science in EMS Education from Springfield College and is a Paramedic / Lieutenant for the West Springfield Fire Department. CJ is a new addition to the, Inc. team and has been selected to coordinate the American Heart Association Training Programs for CJ has also had several years as a teaching assistant for the many EMT and Paramedic training programs that were conducted at Mercy Medical Center in years' past.

Gary A. Childs, B.S., EMT-P
Gary is one of the lead instructors of the EMT and Paramedic Refresher programs at, Inc. Gary is a retired Captain from the Amherst Fire Department and has been a Paramedic and EMS Educator for over 18 years. His passion for EMS and teaching styles draw students into the programs.
